Well it is a new year and that means it is also a good time to take a look at your insurance. We are getting settled into 2021 and hope you are, too. A new year brings excitement and new goals, but it seems most people are easing into 2021. As we ease into this new year let’s talk insurance. Taking a few minutes now can potentially save you a lot of headaches and financial heartache down the road.
Evaluate Your Insurance
The start of a new year is a great time to take a minute and evaluate your insurance. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Did I make a purchase or receive a gift in 2020 that I need to add to my insurance? i.e. new jewelry, ATV, UTV, guns and vehicles.
- Did I make any of the following improvements to my home?
- Did I sell anything and not tell my agent? i.e. vehicle, ATV, UTV, boat, land, property, etc.
- Did you have a son or daughter turn 15 or 16 and start driving with a permit or license?
What to do with Your Evaluation
If you answered yes to any of these questions then you need to call or email your agent today. A quick contact with the your agent will get your insurance updated and everything covered. Some of the home improvements listed above can get you a discount on your premium. Who doesn’t want a discount on their insurance? While you are making your updates you can also ask your agent to do a quick review of your policies to make sure your liability coverage is where you need and want it to be.
If you answered no to all of the questions above, this is a great time to touch base with your agent to do an overall review of your policies to make sure all of your coverages are accurate and what you need/want to cover you and your family. For example, if you got auto insurance in your 20’s and you are now 30 with a family and you have never looked at your liability limits you may want to take the time to do that now.
